There are acupuncture schools that do not require you to have an undergraduate degree. However, acupuncture schools would require their students to have at least attended two years in college. But degree holders has the most advantage of getting admitted in an acupuncture schools especially high accredited ones.

The one that accredits an acupuncture school is the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine or ACAOM. So if you seeking excellence in studying acupuncture, then it would be best to enroll in an acupuncture school accredited by the ACAOM.

It would normally take three years to finish a degree in acupuncture. There are night programs and part-time acupuncture programs available for working students. Enrolling in these aforementioned programs would usually take a maximum of five years to finish a degree.

If you finish the course you will receive a master’s degree in Acupuncture or Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Once you have the degree, you can then take the licensure exam. As mentioned earlier, it is better to enroll in an ACAOM-accredited acupuncture school since this is a requirement in taking the licensure exam. On July 1, 1999, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine required that students who will take the examination must be a graduate of ACAOM-accredited schools.
